What would your clients recommend you for?
Oct 08, 2026Do you believe your former contacts would recommend you for new work?
If so, great. But do they know which specific opportunities to recommend you for?
When a client values the work you've done, they might happily recommend you. However, they mainly know you through the assignment you've completed together.
Would they connect your wider expertise to a different problem someone they know might be facing?
At your next catch-up with a former client, ask: "If you were recommending me, what would you say I could help with?" Give them time to answer before adding your own explanation. If they don't cover the work you want to be known for, share one example of a problem you've helped solve.
Recognizing opportunities and following through on them can be tricky. We've built a platform to give you a practical system for the work that happens before an opportunity reaches the CRM. It helps you keep track of what matters to your contacts and decide on the next useful step, whether that's following up or introducing a client to the right colleague.

P.S. Ask whether your contact is comfortable making the introduction and thank them either way.
